Young people from the Cahul District Youth Center discuss gender-based violence

Young people from the Cahul District Youth Center discuss gender-based violence

Towards the end of the international campaign “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence”, CRDC organized an information and awareness-raising activity with the young people from the Cahul District Youth Center. The event aimed to deepen the understanding of different forms of violence, challenge harmful stereotypes, and promote relationships built on respect and equality.

During the discussion, participants explored various forms of violence and their impact on both women and men. Particular attention was given to the stereotypes, myths, and prejudices that shape behaviors and expectations in our society:

  • the idea that men “are not allowed to be vulnerable,”

  • the belief that women should “endure” certain attitudes,

  • the pressure of traditional gender roles in relationships.

As part of the activity, the short film “Colors” was screened, offering an opportunity for sincere conversations about emotional manipulation, control, restriction of personal freedom, and other toxic behaviors that may appear in relationships, even when they are difficult to recognize. Participants shared reflections and questions, building a shared understanding of how psychological violence can affect a person's emotional health and well-being.

CRDC will continue to carry out activities dedicated to informing young people and strengthening a culture of non-violence within the community.
