#RedMyLips – A Global Gesture of Solidarity Against Violence Against Women
We begin the month of April with solidarity, empathy, and a clear message: sexual violence, domestic violence, and sexual harassment must not be tolerated. By joining the international #RedMyLips campaign, we express our support for all women and girls who have experienced violence and reaffirm the importance of visibility, support, and access to help resources.
The Origin of the #RedMyLips Campaign
The #RedMyLips campaign originated in Canada as an awareness and solidarity initiative for survivors of sexual violence. Wearing red lipstick was chosen as a symbol of courage, dignity, and resilience, as well as a peaceful form of protest against silence, stigma, and the normalization of gender-based violence.
Over the years, the campaign has been adopted internationally, becoming a powerful visual advocacy and awareness tool used by civil society organizations, activists, journalists, and institutions working to protect women’s rights and safety.
Why #RedMyLips Matters in Cahul
At the local level, gender-based violence remains a persistent reality, often underreported and accompanied by shame, fear, or lack of information. Through this campaign, the Regional Community Development Center, together with the community of community journalists, the Cahul District Youth Center, and the Territorial Psychopedagogical Assistance Service (SAP) Cahul, aims to bring this issue into the public space and send a clear message: victims are not alone and have the right to support, protection, and justice.
The campaign focuses on:
-
recognizing the lived experiences of women and girls;
-
encouraging victims to make their voices heard;
-
informing the community about forms of sexual and gender-based violence;
-
promoting solidarity and collective responsibility.
How Can You Join the #RedMyLips2025 Campaign?
Participation is simple, but the impact is powerful:
-
wear red lipstick during the month of April;
-
share messages of support using the hashtag #RedMyLips2025;
-
speak openly about the importance of combating gender-based violence;
-
offer support and accurate information to those who may need help.
Every gesture of solidarity helps break the silence and build a safer, more informed community.
Our Solidarity Matters
Through #RedMyLips, we convey a message of empathy and responsibility: violence is not an individual problem, but a social one, and its prevention begins with information, visibility, and real support. We continue to support initiatives that promote the safety, dignity, and rights of women and girls, both locally and in dialogue with international movements.
Together, we transform solidarity into a collective voice against violence.
