C.R.D.C.: Strengthening Digital Resilience and Combating Disinformation

In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, the Regional Center for Community Development (C.R.D.C.) reaffirms its commitment to supporting communities in the Southern Region of the Republic of Moldova by participating in essential initiatives that aim to combat disinformation and strengthen digital security.

The year 2024 offered our team the opportunity to participate in two important training events within the project “Digital Activism Accelerator: Together Against Disinformation”, implemented by Transparency International Moldova with support from Funky Citizens. This project, funded by European partners, aims to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations through training, access to innovative technologies, and the development of effective collaboration networks.

Digital Security – A Priority for C.R.D.C.

As digitalization becomes an indispensable part of organizational work, cybersecurity has emerged as a major concern. Our team took part in the training “Digital Security and Safety – Action Plan and Internal Policy for NGOs,” led by expert Livia Țurcanu. The session offered the opportunity to assess cyber risks and develop internal policies to protect data and organizational infrastructure.

“In an era where data and information are highly vulnerable, these trainings helped us understand the importance of digital security and implement essential preventive measures,” said Irina Bejan, the organization’s administrator.

Fighting Disinformation – A Shared Responsibility

During the training sessions held alongside other organizations from across the country, our team worked on identifying effective methods for countering disinformation. The event provided the right context for sharing best practices and developing project ideas to be implemented in 2024.

“The Digital Activism Accelerator project provided us with a well-structured framework to understand how to strategically address disinformation, with access to the expertise of internationally recognized organizations,” added one of the team members.

Visibility and Communication in NGOs

Another key component of the project was the training session “Visibility and Communication in NGOs,” coordinated by Natalia Șeremet. During this session, participants gained essential knowledge on how to build effective communication strategies to amplify the impact of their organizational activities.

A Strategic Partnership with Transparency International Moldova

Our participation in this program not only strengthened our competencies but also allowed us to build new partnerships with other active civil society organizations, including the Center for Sustainable Development and Civic Innovation, the National Association of Community Mediators of Moldova, and TUK.MD. Together, we aim to develop initiatives that support critical thinking and enhance community resilience against disinformation.

Our Commitment to a Safe Digital Future

Participation in this project marks an important step in our development strategy. We understand that digitalization brings both opportunities and challenges, and through continuous training and collaboration with international partners, we are better equipped to support our communities.

We thank our partners and funders for their trust and support, and our team for their active involvement. Together, we are building a more informed, safer, and more resilient society.
