Over 18 Institutions and Organizations in the Cahul Region Coordinate Efforts for the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” Campaign

The Regional Centre for Community Development (CRDC) organized a coordination meeting in preparation for the local “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, which will take place from 25 November to 10 December 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives of more than 18 public institutions and civil society organizations from the Cahul region to identify opportunities for collaboration and coordinate activities focused on raising awareness, sharing information and preventing violence within local communities.

Coordinating Efforts and Planning Local Activities

During the meeting, participants presented the activities they intend to organize throughout the campaign, discussed proposals for joint initiatives and explored ways in which institutions and organizations could collaborate to reach as many community members as possible.

Discussions focused on the importance of a coordinated approach that builds on the experience, resources and responsibilities of each partner, as well as the need to adapt violence prevention messages to the realities and needs of local communities.

Particular attention was given to engaging a wider range of community stakeholders, ensuring that violence prevention is not seen solely as the responsibility of specialized institutions but becomes a shared commitment across the community.

“The Power of Example” – Bringing the National Campaign to the Local Level

In 2026, local activities will also incorporate messages from the national “The Power of Example” campaign, initiated and coordinated by the National Agency for the Prevention and Combating of Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (ANPCV), under the auspices of the Government of the Republic of Moldova.

The campaign promotes changes in attitudes and behaviours that contribute to the perpetuation of violence, encouraging mutual respect, individual responsibility and active involvement in violence prevention.

By incorporating these messages into local activities, partners aim to help strengthen a culture of respect and zero tolerance for violence, including by promoting positive examples of behaviour within families, educational institutions and communities.

#CahulFărăViolență Continues for the Second Consecutive Year

For the second consecutive year, activities organized in the Cahul region as part of the “16 Days of Activism” campaign will be brought together under the local initiative #CahulFărăViolență, which aims to strengthen cooperation between public institutions, civil society organizations and community members in preventing gender-based violence.

The local campaign will bring together both activities organized independently by partner institutions and organizations and joint initiatives, contributing to better coordination of efforts and greater visibility of violence prevention messages.

In the coming period, CRDC, together with the partners involved, will finalize the programme of activities. The official launch of the local campaign and the calendar of events will be announced publicly.

Open Invitation to Get Involved

The Regional Centre for Community Development encourages other institutions, non-governmental organizations, initiative groups and interested individuals to join the #CahulFărăViolență campaign.

Participation can take different forms, from organizing independent activities and promoting campaign messages to contributing to joint information and awareness-raising initiatives.

Preventing violence requires sustained engagement and cooperation between institutions and communities. By coordinating local efforts, we aim to contribute to creating a safer environment where everyone's rights, dignity and safety are respected.

This activity is organized by the Regional Centre for Community Development under the auspices of the Platform for Gender Equality, with the support of Gender-Centru, and is part of a programme aimed at empowering women-led organizations in their efforts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. This initiative is supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and funded by the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
