CRDC Participated in a Roundtable in Ceadîr-Lunga Dedicated to Supporting Women and Girls in Cases of Gender-Based Violence

On 11 November, the team of the Public Association Regional Center for Community Development, together with Luminița Zgardan, representative of our partners from the General Inspectorate for Migration, participated in a roundtable held in Ceadîr-Lunga Municipality, dedicated to presenting a resource for girls and women from Gagauzia designed to support them in situations of gender-based violence.

The activity was organized within the project “Together for Safety – Regional Cooperation against Gender-Based Violence”, implemented by AO MIRKIRAS in partnership with the Public Association Regional Center for Community Development.

The event brought together representatives of public institutions, international organizations, civil society and local structures directly involved in violence prevention and support for those affected.

During the meeting, a resource designed for girls and women from Gagauzia was presented, aimed at facilitating access to clear information and relevant services in situations of gender-based violence.

The discussions emphasized the need for women and girls to know where they can seek help, which institutions have responsibilities in such cases and what forms of support are available at local and regional level.

For CRDC, developing and promoting such tools is important because rapid access to clear and up-to-date information can make a significant difference in situations where a person needs protection, counselling or referral to specialized services.

The roundtable brought together representatives of People in Need Moldova, the Ceadîr-Lunga Police Inspectorate, structures responsible for refugees in the Southern region, social assistance services, as well as child protection specialists, psychologists, representatives of civil society organizations and members of the Youth Council.

The meeting provided a space to discuss cooperation mechanisms, challenges encountered in practice and ways in which institutions and organizations can respond more effectively and in a more coordinated manner to cases of gender-based violence.

One concrete outcome of the discussions was the decision to sign a cooperation agreement between AO MIRKIRAS and the Ceadîr-Lunga Municipality Police Inspectorate, a step that can contribute to strengthening local cooperation, intervention and referral mechanisms.

CRDC’s participation in this activity is part of the organization’s broader work to promote gender equality, prevent violence and strengthen cooperation between communities, institutions and local organizations.

For us, violence prevention cannot be achieved by a single actor. It requires institutions that communicate with one another, organizations that understand community realities and clear mechanisms through which affected persons can quickly access the services and support they need.

The project “Together for Safety – Regional Cooperation against Gender-Based Violence” is implemented by AO MIRKIRAS in partnership with the Public Association Regional Center for Community Development.

The initiative is carried out within the regional programme “Resilient Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership Countries”, implemented by People in Need Moldova, funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic within the Transition cooperation programme.
