Equal Opportunities and Informed Career Choices for Young People in the Region
A.O. Centrul Regional de Dezvoltare Comunitară participated in an activity organized by GIZ Moldova at the Vocational School in Hîncești, where it facilitated a workshop for young people from different localities across the region.
The workshop focused on gender equality, confidence in one’s own abilities, career choices and employability, providing participants with a space to discuss how stereotypes can influence educational and professional pathways.
Together with the young participants, we discussed how certain professions are still traditionally associated more with women or with men and the impact these perceptions can have on career decisions. We emphasized that every young man and young woman should have the opportunity to build their future based on their own abilities, interests and aspirations.
The activity also provided an opportunity to discuss the skills needed for labour market integration, self-confidence and the importance of equal access to education and professional opportunities.
For CRDC, such meetings are important because they bring the dialogue on equal opportunities and employability closer to young people and create contexts in which they can critically reflect on their own choices and on the barriers that may influence their future path.
We thank GIZ Moldova for the invitation and for the opportunity to contribute to an initiative that connects education, equal opportunities and the professional development of young people in the region.
