The project “Together for Safety: Social Cohesion and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence in the Cahul Region” contributes to the prevention of gender-based violence and the strengthening of social cohesion between the refugee community and the host community in Cahul municipality and the targeted localities.

The initiative creates safe and accessible spaces for information, dialogue and community engagement for women, girls, youth, boys, refugees and migrants, local specialists, institutions and partner organizations. The project addresses topics such as healthy relationships, violence prevention, access to support, digital violence, gender stereotypes and the role of the community in creating a safer environment for women and girls.

Through community activities, information sessions, creative workshops, legal discussions, educational film screenings and the mobilization of local actors, the project contributes to building a more informed, more supportive and better prepared community to prevent gender-based violence.

Objectives
To increase the level of information, awareness and social cohesion among women, girls, youth, boys, refugees and members of the host community regarding the prevention of gender-based violence, healthy relationships, the risks of digital violence and local support mechanisms.
To strengthen local cooperation between institutions, NGOs, members of the Gender Equality Platform, specialists, refugee women, youth and community partners for the prevention of gender-based violence and the participatory implementation of the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign under the local message #CahulFărăViolență.
Methodology
The project methodology is based on a community-based, participatory approach focused on the prevention of gender-based violence. The activities combine information, dialogue, non-formal education, legal information support, creative expression and local mobilization. The intervention will be implemented in cooperation with educational institutions, local public authorities, the General Inspectorate for Migration / Southern Regional Directorate, police, social services, Community Center Cahul, the Refugee Council, AO Clinica Juridică Cahul, local NGOs, members of the Gender Equality Platform, volunteers and gender equality ambassadors. The activities will include mobile information sessions, workshops with refugee women and women from the host community, legal information sessions for youth, workshops with boys and young men, educational film screenings with guided discussions, training for specialists, thematic round tables and public actions within the #CahulFărăViolență campaign.

The project promotes community awareness of the forms of violence, local support mechanisms, safe referral pathways and the role each person can play in preventing violence.

The activities address gender stereotypes, consent, respect, positive masculinity, digital violence and the influence of toxic online content.

Social cohesion and community cooperation
The project creates spaces for dialogue and cooperation between the refugee community, the host community, institutions, NGOs, young people, women and local partners.
Beneficiaries

Direct beneficiaries: at least 200 people from the refugee community and the host community, including women, girls, youth, boys, refugee and migrant women, older people and members of the local community.

Institutional and community beneficiaries: at least 60 specialists, representatives of institutions, NGOs, members of the Gender Equality Platform and local partners involved in the prevention of gender-based violence and in the #CahulFărăViolență campaign.
Expected results
At least 200 people from the refugee community and the host community will be informed and involved in activities focused on preventing gender-based violence and strengthening social cohesion.
