“Colors of the Community”: an afternoon of painting, connecting and creating together
On 14 August 2026, in Cahul, colors became an opportunity for dialogue, connection and spending meaningful time together. A.O. Centrul Regional de Dezvoltare Comunitară organized the community activity “Colors of the Community: Painting Together”, a canvas painting workshop that brought children and parents together in a friendly, creative and inclusive environment.
What made this activity special was precisely its simplicity. Surrounded by canvases, brushes and colors, participants had the opportunity to create together, communicate, get to know one another better and spend quality time in a relaxed atmosphere.
Beyond the artworks created, we wanted the workshop to be a space where every participant could feel free to express their ideas and creativity. We talked about the community we would like to live in, the things that bring us closer together, and how each of us can contribute to building a more open and welcoming environment.
Children and parents painted side by side, exchanged ideas, helped one another and turned a few hours spent together into an experience that meant much more than simply attending a painting workshop.
For us, activities like this are important because social cohesion is also built through simple experiences shared together. When people with different experiences and life stories have a space where they can interact naturally, create and communicate, connections emerge that help bring members of the community closer together.
In this sense, “Colors of the Community” was about art, but above all, it was about people. About children and parents who came to paint and left with their own artworks, new experiences and, we hope, a sense of belonging to a community where there is a place for everyone.
We thank all participants for their energy, curiosity, ideas and openness throughout the activity. Every artwork was different, and it was precisely this diversity that made the workshop so special.
The activity was organized by A.O. Centrul Regional de Dezvoltare Comunitară, in partnership with Community Center Cahul and the General Inspectorate for Migration / Southern Regional Directorate, within the project “Strengthening the Capacity for Socio-Economic Integration of Displaced Families and Host Communities”.
The project “Strengthening the Capacity for Socio-Economic Integration of Displaced Families and Host Communities” is financed by the Global Concessional Financing Facility (GCFF), administered by the World Bank, and implemented by Terre des hommes Moldova Foundation in partnership with the General Inspectorate for Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova.
