Orange Ribbons of Solidarity: A Creative Workshop within the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” Campaign

As part of the activities dedicated to the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, the Public Association Regional Center for Community Development organized a creative workshop at Community Center Cahul, where orange ribbons became symbols of solidarity, courage and support for people affected by violence.

The activity brought together women from the community, CRDC volunteers and people involved in local initiatives, who created orange ribbons to be used during activities organized throughout the campaign.

A simple symbol with a powerful message

The orange ribbon is internationally associated with efforts to prevent violence against women and girls. During the workshop, the creative process also became an opportunity to discuss safety, solidarity and the community’s responsibility not to tolerate violence.

Each ribbon created carried the same message: violence must not be normalized, justified or overlooked.

Beyond its creative component, the workshop created a space for dialogue and connection among participants, where experiences, perspectives and ideas were shared on how the campaign’s messages can reach people more effectively within the community.

Local cooperation for violence prevention

The activity was carried out with the involvement of AO Creative Women, the team of the General Inspectorate for Migration, Community Center Cahul, CRDC volunteers and active women from the community.

For CRDC, such partnerships are important because preventing gender-based violence requires not only the intervention of specialized institutions, but also continuous information, education and community-level engagement.

Workshops of this kind may seem simple in format, but they help increase the visibility of prevention messages and provide an accessible context in which people can discuss topics that are often difficult to address.

#CahulFărăViolență – a message that continues

The activity is part of the series of initiatives carried out between 25 November and 10 December within the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign and under the local message #CahulFărăViolență.

For us, safety is a right, not a privilege. That is why we will continue to support activities that promote information, solidarity and shared responsibility in preventing gender-based violence.
