“The Voices of Young Community Journalists of A.O. C.R.D.C.: Roșca Valentina”

Roșca Valentina, a young community journalist from the village of Hagichioi, is one of those people who do not remain indifferent when they identify a problem within their community. Noticing that the playground in Hagichioi lacks shade—placing children at risk of heat exhaustion during hot days—Valentina decided to take action and bring attention to the situation.

Valentina raised this issue with local authorities, initiating a constructive dialogue with the mayor. As a result of the discussions, it was agreed that planting trees is a necessary and feasible solution. The City Hall included this objective in its action plan, with implementation scheduled by April, and proposed mobilizing the local community to carry it out. Residents will be actively involved in the planting process, turning the initiative into a collective effort to create a safer and more child-friendly environment.

Valentina’s initiative highlights the importance of civic engagement and the power an active citizen can have in shaping their community.

Valentina’s experience within the project

“I believe community journalism is valuable because it gives people a voice and the opportunity to create change. Identifying a problem and writing an article is challenging, but also rewarding, as it develops both critical thinking and empathy.”
