“The Voices of Young Community Journalists of A.O. C.R.D.C.: Anastasia Dermenji”

Community journalism is a powerful tool for informing and mobilizing local communities in order to address pressing issues. Anastasia Dermenji, a participant in the “V.O.C.E.” project, shares her perspective on community journalism and the impact this project has had on her.

What motivated you to participate in the “V.O.C.E.” project?
I was motivated by the desire to better understand community journalism and to learn how to approach local topics in an authentic and responsible way. I appreciated the idea of collaborating with professionals in the field and with other young people passionate about journalism.

What are the main differences between community journalism and traditional journalism?
Unlike traditional journalism, which focuses on objectivity and large-scale national or international events, community journalism is closer to citizens. It emphasizes local realities, direct community involvement, and a more personal tone. It also allows citizens to actively contribute to content creation, strengthening a sense of belonging and civic engagement.

Can you share an experience that highlighted the importance of community journalism for you?
Participating in the project offered me a new perspective on how journalism can positively influence a community. In addition to developing my writing and research skills, I learned to value the voice of the community in the media. Interacting with experienced journalists and other young journalism enthusiasts was extremely motivating and valuable.

How can community journalism contribute to strengthening local communities?
Community journalism motivates citizens to take action to solve local problems, whether through volunteering or initiating community projects. When a community sees itself reflected in articles and reports, its members feel more involved and more connected.

How does community journalism influence the transparency of local authorities?
Community journalism plays a crucial role in increasing transparency and accountability among local authorities. Well-documented investigations and articles draw public attention to administrative decisions, the use of public funds, and issues that require urgent solutions.

How can community journalism encourage citizen participation?
By highlighting local issues and providing a platform for community voices, community journalism stimulates civic engagement. Articles, interviews, and reports can transform indifference into action, motivating people to participate in discussions and initiatives.

How can community journalism be supported in the future?
To grow and remain sustainable, community journalism must adapt to new technologies and actively engage the community. Online platforms and social networks facilitate the rapid dissemination of information and the creation of spaces for dialogue among citizens.

What did you learn from your experience with community journalism?
My experience with community journalism showed me how important it is for community voices to be heard and how much this type of journalism can contribute to real change. Through well-documented articles and authentic storytelling, communities become more united, and citizens more actively involved in addressing local challenges.

In conclusion, community journalism not only informs but also mobilizes communities, helping them become stronger and more cohesive.
