CRDC Takes Part in a Public Institution Transparency Monitoring Process

A.O. Centrul Regional de Dezvoltare Comunitară participated in a mentoring and monitoring programme coordinated by CPR Moldova – Center for Policies and Reforms, focused on access to information of public interest and the transparency of public institutions.

As part of the initiative, CRDC was among four civil society organizations involved in analysing information and data published by the selected institutions. The process was accompanied by mentoring sessions facilitated by CPR Moldova experts Dan Nicorici and Andrei Lutenco.

The practical work focused on analysing how public institutions ensure citizens’ access to information. The aspects reviewed included the accessibility and ease of navigation of institutional websites, the availability of information of public interest, the publication of data in editable formats, and the use of information requests as a tool for strengthening transparency.

For CRDC, participation in this process represented both an opportunity to develop monitoring skills and a practical exercise in analysing how transparency principles are applied by public institutions.

The mentoring sessions provided an opportunity to discuss the findings identified during the monitoring process, analyse the challenges encountered and formulate observations that may subsequently contribute to recommendations for institutions that are more open, accessible and responsive to citizens.

CRDC’s involvement in such initiatives complements the organization’s work in the field of civic participation and dialogue between communities and public authorities. Access to information of public interest is one of the necessary conditions for people to understand public processes, participate in an informed manner and demand accountability from institutions.

The process continues with the completion of the monitoring reports and the development of recommendations addressed to the institutions analysed.

The mentoring sessions are organized by CPR Moldova within the projects “Instigare la democrație: Instituții transparente și digitale” and INSPIRED Moldova, with the support of the National Endowment for Democracy, the Embassy of Sweden in Chișinău and the European Union in the Republic of Moldova.
