Awareness Activity with Young Women from Cahul Municipality, within the “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” Campaign

As part of the international “16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, we organized an information and awareness activity together with young women from several educational institutions in Cahul municipality.

Our goal was to create a safe space for open discussions about what gender-based violence is, what forms it can take — including subtle ones — and how it can be recognized and prevented through access to accurate information and appropriate tools.

During the activity, we presented the guide “Your Safety Is a Priority. Support Resources for Women and Girls in the Cahul Region,” a material that provides clear information, useful contacts and locally available resources for women and girls at risk. The guide served as a foundation for discussions about existing services in Cahul and how they can be accessed when needed.

We also watched the short film “Colors,” which addresses sensitive topics related to gender-based violence. The screening opened space for sincere and meaningful discussions about the emotions, experiences and realities that women and girls in the community may face.

Through this activity, we emphasized the importance of proper information and open dialogue with young women, to support them in identifying and preventing situations of violence. Their involvement and interest demonstrate how necessary such meetings are and how much they contribute to building a more aware and empathetic community.

The civil society organizations Regional Center for Community Development and "Mirkiras" are implementing this activity within the project “Civil Society Resilience in the Eastern Partnership Countries”, part of a regional initiative developed by People in Need Moldova, funded by the European Union in the Republic of Moldova and co-funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic under the “Transition” Cooperation Programme.
