CRDC Concludes the Project “Together for Safety – Regional Collaboration to Combat Gender-Based Violence”
At the end of the year, as we look back and draw conclusions, the Regional Center for Community Development (CRDC) concludes the implementation of the project “Together for Safety – Regional Collaboration to Combat Gender-Based Violence”, implemented in partnership with A.O. Mirkiras.
For 5 months, the project placed the safety of girls and women from the Cahul region and Gagauzia ATU at the center of its actions, aiming to increase awareness, facilitate access to support resources, and strengthen cooperation among civil society organizations active in the field of preventing gender-based violence.
The project started with a simple but essential question:
do girls and women know where they can go, what they can do, and who can support them when they face violence?
In response, the partners developed the information guide:
“Your Safety Is a Priority. Support Resources for Women and Girls in the Cahul Region and Gagauzia ATU in Cases of Gender-Based Violence” — a bilingual (Romanian–Russian), clear and accessible tool, built on local realities and adapted to community needs.
The guide provides essential information on forms of violence, the rights of women and girls, as well as contact details of support services available in the region.
Beyond the development of the guide, the project included information and awareness-raising sessions held in the Cahul region and in Ceadîr-Lunga, attended by over 100 participants, significantly exceeding the initially planned number.
To ensure quick and discreet access to information, the guide was also disseminated through QR code cards, allowing resources to be accessed whenever needed, in a safe and confidential manner.
During the activities, safe spaces for girls and women were created, where violence could be discussed openly without shame or judgment, and participants received practical tools useful in difficult situations.
An important component of the project consisted of study visits and exchanges of experience between partner teams. These contributed to strengthening interregional cooperation and mutual learning, demonstrating that safety is built more effectively through cooperation and joint action.
CRDC expresses its sincere gratitude to People in Need Moldova for the support and trust provided in the implementation of this project.
The completion of the project “Together for Safety” does not mark an endpoint, but rather an important step in an ongoing process. When women are informed, heard, and supported, communities become safer, more resilient, and more united.
CRDC will continue to develop initiatives that promote safety, equality, and the rights of women and girls in communities across southern Moldova.
The Regional Center for Community Development and the Public Organization “Mirkiras” implement activities within the project “Civil Society Resilience in the Eastern Partnership Countries”, part of a regional project developed by People in Need Moldova, funded by European Union in the Republic of Moldova and co-financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, within the “Transition” Cooperation Programme.
