International Migrants Day marked in Cahul through a cohesion and inclusion activity
On the occasion of International Migrants Day, the Regional Community Development Center (CRDC), in partnership with the General Inspectorate for Migration – Cahul Office, organized a community event dedicated to migrants and refugees in the municipality of Cahul, aiming to strengthen connections between families and the host community.
The event was designed as a safe and welcoming space, offering participants the opportunity to interact, get to know each other better, and spend quality time together in a winter holiday atmosphere.
A key moment of the event was the winter creative masterclass, during which participating families created decorative Christmas trees. A distinctive element of the activity was the use of the colors of the Republic of Moldova’s flag, symbolizing respect, openness, and the connection with the community that welcomed them.
Through this activity, the organizers aimed to convey a message of belonging and inclusion, emphasizing the importance of building a sense of “home” for people living far from their country of origin.
Throughout the event, open discussions took place, during which participants were invited to share their life experiences in the Republic of Moldova. When asked, “What do you like most about Moldova?”, the answer repeated most often was the people — appreciated for their openness, empathy, and support.
These testimonies highlighted the essential role of human relationships in the process of integration and adaptation, beyond formal support mechanisms.
Thus, International Migrants Day was marked not only as a symbolic event, but also as a genuine opportunity for dialogue, connection, and strengthening community cohesion in the municipality of Cahul.
